Executive Protection
![]() |
With today’s global economy, companies large and small are having to become more and more familiar with executive protection. From executives in financial services, pharmaceutical companies, energy companies, etc., many have to worry about such dangers as kidnapping, carjacking, mail threats, biological threats, and more. Even violence in the workplace is becoming more commonplace. Because of these threats both and home and abroad, executive protection is also become more necessary. The key to quality executive protection is to be able to protect the individual without intruding or restricting his or her everyday activities. But before you begin an executive protection program, there are a few things that need to be considered.
First, you need to consider who the individuals are that are critical to the company. This is a form of risk analysis. If that person was lost, what would happen to the organization? After this is determined, a full profile of each individual needs to be conducted in order to provide proper executive protection. This profile will help determine what level of executive protection each person requires. Usually, there is a standard level of executive protection all the time and then, in rare instances, that level of protection is increased.
Important to remember also is that simply hiring a large man to protect an executive is not the most effective form of executive protection. A person who is well versed in defensive driving and emergency medicine as well as a person who has good judgment and is able to remain inconspicuous is also a must.
